Jiiva made his debut in Aasai Aasaiyai, a Tamil romantic film, directed by Ravi Mariya. The movie was released on January 31, 2003 under his father, R. B. Choudary’s 50th production company, Super Good Films Banner. Music for the film was composed by Mani Sharma, and lyrics were penned by Kaviperarasu Vairamuthu and Ravi Mariya.
The story revolves around Vinod, portrayed by Jiiva, who aspires to become a businessman after completing his under graduation. Vinod’s parents keep nudging him to start looking out for a job. However, he works as a part-time detective where he has been assigned to follow a girl and note her activities. While doing so, he eventually falls in love with the girl Brinda (Sharmelee) and decides to quit his job. Brinda, on other end, daughter of a rich gold dealer, has a strict policy in her life to not love anyone because her sister eloped with a guy in the past due to which her father (Nasser) suffered a heart attack. The rest is how Vinod wins Brinda’s heart and convince their respective parents to accept their marriage.
The actor was appreciated by the critics and audience. Many stated that Jiiva left an impression at several juncture.
