Singam Puli is an action-masala film directed by Sai Ramani, starring Jiiva in dual roles, with Divya Spandana and Honey Rose being paired opposite him, while Santhanam plays a pivotal role.
Shiva (Jiiva), elder brother of the family, is a typical hero who listens to parents, fights the wrong and stands by right things in life. Shwetha (Divya) is his long-time sweetheart. On the other hand, his twin younger brother Ashok (Jiiva), a lawyer by profession, tries to flirt around and charms every woman he meets. Matter worsens when Ashok lures a girl with false hopes, and ends up in a disastrous consequence. He cleverly uses his brains to escape, but Shiva gets to know of his brother callousness, leading to a cat and mouse game between them.
The film opened to a commercial entertainer and garnered mixed reviews. “Jiiva, in a double role, has a ball. He pulls off two diametrically opposite roles with ease, distinguishing each with different body language and dialogue delivery. He inspires a sense of disgust as the mean-spirited younger brother even as you feel sorry for the frustrated elder brother..” quoted Rediff.com. “..Jiiva’s acting is the highlight of the film. He keeps you in splits in the comic scenes with Santhanam..” reviewed Mid-day.
