Jiiva (born Amar Choudary) is an Indian Film Actor, Producer, and Philanthropist who has appeared in over thirty films several of them earning him with recognition for portraying diverse roles. The tamizh film ‘Aasai Aasaiyai’ kick-started Jiiva’s journey into acting in the year 2003. His third film, ‘Raam’ directed by Ameer gave Jiiva his big break and much deserved appreciation from the industry. The movie was screened at the International Film Festival in Goa and later at the Cyprus International Film Festival, where he also won the Best Actor award. His role in ‘Katradhu Tamizh’, as Prabhakar, was praised highly by critics and widely termed as one of his best work.
His next few films showed off his versatility and soon Jiiva was being called a ‘director’s actor’. The decade following his debut had seen Jiiva in films from different genres with every film beating its predecessor in the box office. Even in a film that did not succeed in the box office, Jiiva managed to win over the critics and the audience alike, with his performance.
After taking a year’s break, Jiiva returned to the silver screens in 2016 and has been continuing to entertain his audience with his films. He enjoys working with debutant filmmakers and does not shy from signing with them, a quality quite rare in the industry,
For the latter part of his second decade, he looks forward to the release of his film- Kee, Gorilla, Gypsy and is excited about donning hats of never-seen-before characters.
